2.500 years ago
here in Lusitania…

Palynological research found that around 500 BC, olive trees already grew 15 kilometers from our Vale do Pais groves. Therefore, e believe that the Romans, a small tribe near Rome at that time, couldn’t have brought them to Lusitania. Other archaeological studies found Phoenician pottery near the River Tagus. So we think the Phoenicians brought the olive trees too. Five hundred years later, a Roman inscription mentions Sempronianus, an olive oil trader from Olisipon (Lisbon), just fifty minutes by car from our groves.
